Relay For Life. Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life event is a life-changing experience that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to Celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, Remember loved ones lost, and Fight Back against the disease. Relay For Life is a 24 hour walk around a track. Relay raises money for our neighbors, friends and family that are battling cancer. Relay provides advocacy, education, support, and service through programs available in our community. As you walk around the track join us in 24 hours of entertainment. We start at 10 am with Opening Ceremonies featuring guest speakers Cassandra Liljenwall with Providence Hospital and Dr Jennifer Lycette from Columbia memorial Hospital, National anthem by Will Caplinger, introducing Jane Johnson our Grand Marshall and join us in a kick-off survivor lap. Live music starts at 10:45 with local bands: Columbia Crew, Hwy 30, Mida's Digs, Beau Brothers, Moon Dog and Roc Solyd. Guest band Future Dads from Canby and Featuring Recording Artist "Icarus The Owl Band" with Blue Swan Records from Portland. Live broadcasting all day and Meet and Greet our bands in the Green Room Sponsored by Radio station 94.3 KRKX There will be themed laps. A different theme for every hour: cake walk lap, bingo lap, Tutu lap,three legged race, something fro everyone! Children's activities including Face Painting. 24 hour BBQ Mr. Relay-Mendress as women as they strut around the track in their heels to raise money for the Fight! Silent Auction Donate your hair to "Locks of Love". Local salons will be on hand to cut your hair and donate it to help make wigs. 10pm join us for the Luminaria Ceremony The Luminaria Ceremony is a ceremony of remembrance and hope. It symbolizes a time to grieve for those we have lost, to reflect on our own cancer experience or that of those closes to us, and to find hope that tomorrow holds the promise of a cancer-free world. After the sun sets the only light is the candle you hold, guiding our hearts and soul with the gift of HOPE. Featuring our Grand Marshall Jane Johnson and our the beautiful, sweet music by Sheleni Quashnick. We continue to walk through the night with luminary lit bags honoring those we have lost and those still fighting guiding us through the darkness. Cancer never sleeps and either do we!
