Comfort Inn & Suites is among the hotels in Seaside going upscale.

Manager Brandon Kraft shared plans with members of the Seaside Chamber of Commerce at a walk-through Wednesday, Dec. 18.

The property will be “100% modernized,” Kraft said.

Work underway includes a fitness area, room upgrades and wood floors, among other changes.

The hotel, located at 545 Broadway along the Boardwalk, will also see a rebranding and name change, becoming the Kathryn Riverfront Inn, part of the Ascend Hotel Collection by Choice Hotels. “Kathryn” refers to Kathryn Day, a company founder, according to Kraft.

The hotel is one of three locally, with Holiday Inn Express and the Best Western Astoria, operated by Lincoln Asset Management in Lake Oswego, a privately owned hotel management company.

“It’s mainly geared to making sure our guests have a higher end-experience,” Kraft said.

The hotel was built 24 years ago. Lincoln Asset Management has operated Seaside’s Comfort Inn & Suites for 21 years.

“Our target is to have the renovation complete by the end of 2020,” Kraft said.
