Celebrating 14 years in 2018, the next Seaside First Saturday Art Walk, will be held on November 3, 5-7: pm. The event is free and is all about seeing and selling art in sponsoring businesses between Holladay and Broadway in the historic area of downtown Seaside.
1. Shine Fair Trade, 609 Broadway Street
Highlighting new handmade “Wild Woolies” felt animals. Fair Trade Federation Moxie demonstrates a genial and equitable approach to conducting business, selecting products that are produced according to rigorous standards that protect people and planet. These standards uphold fundamental human rights, provide safe working conditions and nurture the fragile ecosystems on which we all depend.
2. SunRose Gallery, 606 Broadway Street
We will be presenting new art and jewelry by Mimi Cernyar Fox and Susan Hildebrand. Mimi, who studied art in Paris, is introducing a new series "Mud Clocks" using vintage clocks and embellishing them with mixed media and found objects including carved wooden seabirds. She also has new acrylic paintings and her popular sand dollar mosaics. Susan has created beautiful artisan necklaces combining semi-precious stones with art clay silver, copper and bronze. Light appetizers will be served and music to be announced.
3. Pacific Heirloom, 608 Broadway Street
Featuring signed fine art golf prints by Bobby Sikes, who trained in Fine Art at the University of Georgia, Tromply, Inc. in New York City, and under several artists in Northern Italy. Also, featuring “Oregon-grown” antiques, art and collectibles presented by Kay Kenny.
4. Fairweather House and Gallery, 612 Broadway Street
Opening reception for Expanding Horizons, an exhibition featuring artists turning to nature seeking to express its evocative power on personal level.
Painters and photographers included in this exhibit are Paul Brent, Lee Munsell, Ron Nicolaides, Judy Horning Shaw, Linda Fenton-Mendenhall, Jim Young and Russell Young. Introducing Michael Fox, Martha Lee and Barbara Folawn. The evening will include lectures by artists. Habitat talk by naturalist and wildlife photographer Neal Maine at 6: pm. Live music. Light bites and beverages.
5. Art in the Loft Gallery at Beach Books, 616 Broadway Street
Art-in-the-Loft at Beach Books will host a group show and holiday art sale during November, featuring the work of those artists who have previously shown in the gallery. "An Art-Filled Holiday" will be an exciting and eclectic show with plenty of framed, original wall art and affordable art prints available to purchase for the upcoming holidays.
6. Seaside Yarn and Fiber, 10A N. Holladay Drive
Seaside Yarn and Fiber, a knitting, yarn and craft shop, focuses on community-building by offering a free Knit Night, plus a rotating selection of all-ages knitting and crafting classes, such as Knitting 101, Needlefelt Miniatures and DIY Parties. And too, supporting local artists, featuring art Alpaca prints, mounted on handmade wooden panels, by April Sampson.
7. The Whet Spot, 12 N. Holladay Drive
The Whet Spot offers a relaxed, friendly and “adults only” atmosphere, where patrons can catch up with old friends while enjoying craft beers, ciders and wines. Featuring the art of pouring with twenty rotating taps for craft beers and ciders, a Growler filling station and offering wines by the glass.
8. Blue Bond Studio and Gallery, 417 S Holladay Drive
Amazing paintings by artist Blue Bond done in oil on canvas. Animals, people, still life, and wonderful scenery pictures will delight Art Walk guests. Blue Bond is a local artist in Seaside. He paints and teaches in oil and acrylic to novices and experienced painters alike, offering Friday night painting classes.
9. Westport Winery Seaside, 810 Broadway Street
Kim Roberts of Westport Winery writes “we are simply delighted with our wonderful mix of businesses in this building, formerly called Salmonberry Square. Along with Westport Winery Seaside we have Seaside Kites (so fun!), Rust & Dust (a huge antique store), Seaside Spa and Massage (just the prettiest space), Salon on Broadway (super hip and friendly), and Capricorn Pub (opening soon). And, too, Westport Winery received two Judges’ Picks in the 2018 Sip Northwest Magazine’s Best of the Northwest review.
10. Starry Night Inn, 811 1st Ave
An art motel by the sea located in a Victorian villa where each room features art from Oregon artists. The art at the motel is curated by Chris Haberman.
