Seaside First Saturday Art Walk

Celebrating 17 years in 2021 the next Seaside First Saturday Art Walk, will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday March 6th. It is a free event that observes COVID-19 guidelines and is in the Historic Gilbert District located between Broadway Street and Holladay Drive in downtown Seaside.

Cathy Tippin and Ray Coffey, founders of Seaside Art Walk, will open the 2021 arts cultural season featuring new work by three resident artists: Jan Barber's ocean-themed mixed media, felted wool by Robin Montero, and broken china mosaic by Jane Perrigo.

Pacific Heirloom Art and Collectables, 608 Broadway St. 

Featuring a collection of vintage, bronze, and folk art whales.  Indeed, whales are visible from Oregon's shores all year long although some months are better than others. The first surge of north-bound whales swim near  Seaside  around March. 
 
Of special note, is the featured carved whale by Steve Meadows, who began his journey as an architect and carpenter. Three decades later, this self-taught artist’s mastery for turning everyday objects into whimsical sculptures has landed his work on the shortlist of America’s leading contemporary folk artists.
 
Fairweather House and Gallery, 612 Broadway St.
 
Fittingly, the first Fairweather  artist reception of the year, the month long exhibit called, The Green Room, will feature regional and local gallerists and artists in attendance.
Watercolors by Bill Baily, exhibiting artist from the Portland Art Museum;  fresco art by Agnes Field, past president of the non-profit Astoria Visual Arts; water media art by Diana Nadal, frequently showing at Gusitina Gallery;  mixed media works by Jan Rimerman, Curator for Lakewood Center Gallery and Rain Spark Gallery Director; and abstracts by Bill Shumway, founder of Pegasus Gallery and creator of the Vistas and Vineyards en plein art program. Impasto oil painting demonstration by Tedd Chilless throughout the evening.
 
TigerLily Gallery, 613 Broadway 
 
Featuring Dave Bartholet, Seaside  wildlife artist. He has illustrated several books and painted more than two dozen magazine and journal covers and has garnered more than 30 national awards. Dave is quick to joke that “the accolades show only that he has been around a long time. Perseverance is important in being an artist.”
 
The Whet Spot, 12 N. Holladay Dr.
Ongoing exhibit by Billy Lutz, local artist, musician, and philosopher. Whet Spot offers a relaxed, friendly, adults-only atmosphere where patrons can enjoy craft beers, ciders, and wines while viewing local art.
 
Starry Night Inn and Art Hotel, 811 1st Ave. 
Featuring an Artist Residency Program. Most recently, hosting three dedicated, powerful writers. “We are always deeply honored to be able to offer a place for introspection and safe socialization; a peaceful, welcoming space for artists of all types to enjoy.”
